Program Description

Welcome to Kid Cove! We believe every child, no matter what abilities or disabilities they have, can shape their own school and career path. In addition to tutoring sessions, the main reason why we’ve named this program, “Kid Cove”: we plan to have a LOT of pets!

We plan to have: two dogs (one of them being a service dog), a ball python, an axolotl (Mexican salamander), and a larger fish tank.

We currently have: fish, and our cat, S'mores.

If your child has pet allergies, unfortunately, this is not the program for them. Since our house will be a “zoo”, part of our program includes teaching your children about pet care and animals. Downtime may also include interacting with some of these pets.

Our home will also feature a special room we like to call, “The Sensory Room”. We have slimes, kinetic sand, fidget toys, and many more stimulation or “stim” toys! This room also contains: the book corner, coloring center, and arts and crafts table. Our home in general also has dim lighting and a rustic look. This is to not harm someone’s sensitivities from light (including PJ's own, as you’ll soon read about below). We'll also have a general table for meals and schoolwork.

Though we love all children (and all are welcome to Kid Cove!), we happily welcome neurodiverse (autistic, ADHD, learning disorders, etc.) and physically disabled children into my program. Kid Cove is the safe place for your child to be themselves.

Mornings are devoted to helping students start the day. Breakfast will be provided, as well as light exercises (both physically and/or mentally) to help your child focus during the school day.

Afternoons will be strictly schoolwork. If your child completes schoolwork, or does not have any assigned work that day, it will be learning time. If your child is struggling with at-home assignments, this is the best part of the program. A light snack will also be provided.

At Kid Cove, we strive to help all children succeed in school, and in life.

PRICE: $400/week/child (both before and after school), or $300 for one option.

Background Check Confirmed

My name is PJ. I'm 24 years young, and I'm also neurodiverse (autistic).

Ever since I was a child, I've had a passion for helping other people; regardless of their age. I was one of those kids that stayed in from recess to help their teacher with their next big project. Or help another classmate catch up on their schoolwork. This led me to becoming both a teacher's assistant for two years in high school, and a volunteer for World Vision's KidREACH program for an additional three years. Working with so many elementary school students inspired me to work with them even more. I feel joy and comfort knowing that I am helping a child succeed in both the classroom, and in life.

After I graduated high school, I knew I wanted to get straight to work. I immediately started volunteering more with infants for MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers), and became a self-employed nanny. I've had experience as a live-in, live-out, and traveling nanny. However, because of my disabilities, I've recently been limited to how far I can go. I've always dreamed of owning my own in-home childcare program.

I like to see my disability, and disabilities in general, as an edge in a person, rather than a burden. I strongly believe that if a disabled child receives the accommodations that they need, they can do anything they set their minds to.

When I'm not working with kids, I love acting, modeling, singing, and my self-advocacy work. I'm currently signed with an acting and modeling agency. In my 4 years of a professional entertainment career, I've been in two films, five magazines (one being on the cover), one product, and received the 2019 Seattle Commission for People with DisAbilities: Inclusion Jubilee Youth Award for my autism/disability advocacy. In my free time, I love being with my husband and our cat, S'mores.

It is truly my honor and pleasure to be able to serve you, your family, and our community.
