Adventure Story - Role Play (Virtual)

Micro-School
Virtual
Online

Your imagination is the most powerful tool you can bring to role play! As a group, we’ll work together on an ongoing adventure story. Each player will come up with their own character to play in the story. Where will we go? Who will we be? It’s up to us! In this enrichment, we’ll discuss different storytelling elements, including setting, character, adjectives, and plot twists. Each player will be encouraged to engage with the parts of storytelling they like the most. From map creators, illustrators, and play-actors, all types are welcome aboard our crew.

Program Description

Fridays from 4-5pm PST

October 2nd through December 11th

10/2 Introduction, Set-Up & Character Creation We’ll go over the basics and expectations for group role play. Then we’ll make a decision on the setting for our adventure story. After that, we’ll start character creation!

10/9 Character Introductions, Chapter 1 Brainstorm Introduce our characters. How do we come together in a story? How do we meet in the first chapter?

10/16 Day 1 Our story gets going. Are we getting along? Is anyone making the journey difficult or better?

10/23 Day 2 Our first story conflict! We’ll have to navigate the problem as a team.

10/30 Halloween Event Our story will most certainly take a spooky turn in this session.

11/6 Day 3 Someone is hypnotized and tries to betray the group! How will our characters react?

11/13 Day 4 The group goes on an intense mission together.

11/20 Day 5 We are reaching the end of our book! What will the climax of our story be? It’s time to decide.

12/4 Day 6 This is where we share our individual character endings and any future plans.

12/11 Holiday Event What holiday does your character celebrate? Do they want to share anything with the group about their holiday? Our characters will have a farewell party to end our story.

What is role play?

The act of taking on a different role and playing it out. In this enrichment, we’ll create our own role play community as we collaborate in acting out an adventure story as a different character. This is a social and inclusive enrichment where we can come together and express ourselves creatively.

We are all responsible for keeping our sessions a creative safe-space. Please be respectful of the ideas of other players. The golden rule: treat others how you want to be treated. Everyone should feel invited and welcome to participate in our group, and that means making room for everyone to try out different ideas. Let’s make the most out of the time we have together!

Background Check Confirmed

Hi, I’m Hannah! I’m 29 years old, and have worked in direct childcare for five years with two years experience nannying. I graduated from Washington State University in 2013 with a B.A. in English and a Global Leadership Certificate.

Most recently, I was a Co-Lead teacher of an After School Program that went virtual when our school district closed down. For the rest of the school year, I led meeting games, Dungeons & Dragons, and other meet-ups and activities over Zoom. This led to the development of the role-play adventures that I am offering here!

It is important to me that each child feels valued, listened to and encouraged to be their best selves. I seek to create age-appropriate safe spaces for children to use their imaginations, and expand on their unique interests.
