GIGI’S CRITICAL THINKERS Hello! I'm interested in leading a micro-school because I'm very concerned with kids during this time and how they’re falling behind. I'm interested in helping parents who are working and need support during the pandemic to invest in their children’s education.

My program will focus on supporting your child to develop a strong foundation in problem solving, that will serve them throughout their school days and into their real-world life. TEACHING PHILOSOPHY I use project-based learning to make concepts and subjects hands-on and fun. With this method there are always three parts to a project. Objective Identification, Strategy Creation, and a Observing the Results. This way of breaking down a problem also coincides with how one can approach problems or challenges in the real-world as well. I believe critical thinking is a skill that all students should have and that it is never too young to start. It is a foundational skill for STEM and for your child’s practical life. I also incorporate language arts into my program as it fundamental in understanding, dissecting the problem and describing and presenting the results. As I have an extensive background in tutoring, I understand that everyone learns differently. I like to present different methods to approach subjects as one strategy does not always fit all. Once presented, the student can pick the path that fits their level of understanding best. One project that I love to do for 5th – 8th graders is to have each student construct a tool that they can compete with each other, with the objective of breaking each other’s raw egg without breaking their own in the process. I set a level of requirements that constrain the student’s options and make them problem solve their way to a creative solution. Then they must use their new tool and see if their strategy worked. Afterward, we discuss how each personally understood the objective of the project, the different strategies that each employed and what the results where and why. Learning should be fun, hands-on, and sometimes messy in order to make a true impact in and outside of the school walls. PRICING: Half Day: $500-$1,066 per month/ child depending on the size and age of the group Full Day: $800- $1,500 Preference is for families who are making a year commitment
