Program Description

This program will focus on personalized learning for each child, led by an one of the most talented educators in the Seattle area. Students will have the benefit of friendships and socialization, small class size, and quite a bit of individual attention in a tutor-like experience. There will also be a focus on plenty of outdoor learning and adventures in Schmitz Park and the Alki playfield, social and emotional growth, as well as honing the foundations of writing, math, science and art through project-based learning.

The ultimate goal is to foster reading, writing, math and science skills, and also helping each student become successful, lifelong learners.

We'll use the best of several research-based areas of curriculum with the overall goal of developing an excitement and curiosity for learning. Our focus is project-based learning, simulations, and traditional state offered personalized learning modules from Columbia Academy.

This program follows all CDC guidelines.

ABOUT THE EDUCATORS

Teacher Brittany brings an extensive education experience to the class. She was previously a Kindergarten Prep Lead in Gig Harbor, cross-country coach, and enrichment coordinator. She has her CDA, a BA in Environmental Studies and is working toward her Masters Degree in Childhood Education (K-8th grade). She is a strong believer in the power of positive thinking in the classroom and promotes that with her students. She also loves to play and continually help the kids improve through focusing on their personal interests and superpowers. Her interests include gardening, reading, kayaking, museums, travel and spending time with her family and pets.

Teacher Sandy has nine years of experience working with children from a formal setting to YMCA drop in, after school care. She's even led programs for children on a cruise ship. She brings a passion for theatre, dance, and art with plenty of time for children to focus on their own passions and interests and time to play outside.
